A note about the pads: Most are firm, some are a bit loose. Not a problem, there are options. To fix them in place, you can squeeze them flat with a pair of pliers. See photo below.
Or, when you glue something on top, make sure the glue goes through the holes to the clip to hold the whole unit together. This will also help make a strong join between the glue and your decoration.
Or, when you soft-solder a decoration on, ensure the solder flows through the holes to the clip. Same effect as with the glue, it will make a stronger join between the decoration and the base.
You should ensure the glue or solder goes right through to ensure a good join, whether the top is loose or not.
